Individual sells is the bet of construction in 2018

Santander's study on the prospects for the 2018 civil construction production chain shows that the little sale - the one that supplies small works and reforms - will be the flagship for 2018. Between 2015 and 2016, the retail segment had a decline of 12.5%. In 2017, it fell 3.3%. However, according to the bank's report, it will grow 8% in 2018. The projection includes sales of cement and artifacts.

The Santander report estimates that the behavior of inflation and the downward trend of interest rates for 2018 will be stimulus to the next sale. "Industrial production in the sector is recovering from the sale of construction materials for remodeling and repairs and, to a lesser extent, real estate launches. This is the last industrial sector to show a recovery, but also gains momentum with the positive signs of the economy, "says bank economist Rodolfo Morgado.

Santander's focus on construction material has a purpose. The financial institution expects to increase real estate credit concessions in 2018. The expectation is to lend $ 1 billion per month, starting in the second half. 

Sale of building materials is expected to grow 8.5%

The new positioning of private banks in relation to real estate credit makes Anamaco (National Association of Construction Material Merchants) estimate that the sector's revenues will grow 8.5% this year, compared to 2017. "With the results of the last 12 months, we expect 2018 to be a year of recovery and we are forecasting a growth of 8.5% over 2017, influenced by the reduction of interest rates and inflation, "predicts Anamaco's president Cláudio Conz.

The manager agrees with Santander's projection that the small sale will drive the growth of the sector in 2018. "The more than 64 million houses in Brazil are deteriorated by the action of rain and weather, generating a natural demand for material of construction. Apart from this, the number of marriages, births and divorces has a direct impact on the reform sector. After all, who wants a house, who has children needs to adjust the house and who also needs a house to live in. The consumer is more confident and the figures show that there is a resumption of works, "he says.
